PAULINE OLIVEROS DAY

On May 25, 2019, Studio Enertia partnered with Discovery Green Park to hold the first annual Pauline Oliveros Day Celebration in her hometown, Houston. It was very important to me to honor this mentor to many, philosopher, composer, and humanitarian. I submitted an official request of Proclamation for the Day to be honored and set by the City of Houston which was approved by the mayor’s office. I invited many colleagues in the improvisational community to perform select scores from Pauline’s vast body of work. Among the performers present were original Deep Listeners Tom Bickley, Heloise Gold, and Pauline’s spouse and creative partner, IONE. It was a joyous occasion and I am so glad that Pauline has an official day of remembrance in her home town. May her legacy live on. - Li
